MacBooks have used two keyboard designs. The butterfly keyboard — on the 12-inch MacBook (2015–2017), the Retina MacBook Air (2018–2019) and the 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pro (2016–2019) — was covered by Apple's Keyboard Service Program for repeating, missing and sticky keys; Apple's page now says that programme has ended. The 16-inch MacBook Pro (2019), the 2020 Intel models and every Apple silicon MacBook use the Magic Keyboard with scissor keys, which fails far more often from liquid than from wear.
Back up with Time Machine or iCloud before any Mac repair. Apple's own checklist for Mac service also says to turn off Find My Mac (on macOS 27 or later, turn on Ready for Repair instead), to know your macOS login password in case the Others has to be tested signed in, and to turn on FileVault if you are worried about your data. Ask the technician before you share any password.
